«I hope Andrew can set your mind straight,» she said. «You’ll stop playing the elusive guest and start leading a normal life. Yes, starting over is hard. But it’s better than fixating on a mistake. There’s no sense in hiding. You can’t hide from yourself.»
During the conversation of the two brothers, Ariana noticed that Michael kept looking for something on Andrew’s face. Doesn’t find it, continues the talk, then looks again. But no, Andrew won’t laugh at him, won’t say offensive words, and try to humiliate.

«Well, let him say,» Andrew shrugged. «He says it to me regularly. And what, not live now?» «I thought you were a loser for a long time. Especially when you moved back home after studying in New York. I sincerely didn’t understand how one could take such a step back. Then I saw you and realized I even envied you.»
Andrew smiled. For the first time in many years, he and his brother talked sincerely. Michael didn’t brag, didn’t try to jab, didn’t interrupt, and didn’t argue. Robert took the news of his son’s return with his characteristic coldness. He let out a sarcasm, adding a couple of offensive words. Said he was disappointed and went back to the TV.
He no longer brags about his older son. More and more in talks with friends, he mentions the younger one. Andrew gradually turned from a loser into a quite worthy heir. Michael found a job, rented an apartment, and moved out from his younger brother.
Gradually, he stopped grieving over the lost «status,» as well as the fact that his father no longer considers him successful. He no longer lives someone else’s life. Now Michael is sure: everything around him is HIS. His happiness, his success, his choice.
In the world, there are more important things than status, wallet size, and others’ opinions. The main thing is to understand this before trying to sneak into your brother’s apartment to take a shower 🙂
